Math On the Go
Hiking Trails
Take advantage of hiking trails to make a math lesson, how far do we have to go, how far
have we been, and how far from point A to point B, all can be used to make math fun. This
concept can also be used on mileage from your home destination to where your going and
points in between. How many different forms of wildlife to wildflowers and things in
between can be used as learning tools also. Using coupons to see how much savings your
family can save is another great way to teach math while on vacation. So many ways to add
a touch a math to all your learning, but you know what the kids don't even realize this is
fun way of learning math.
Guinness World of Records Museum located in Gatlinburg, gives
interesting statistics on many thing that you can incorporate math from.
Come explore facts, feats and records by viewing exhibits, action displays and
memorabilia.

Who would have ever thought that math could be so fun, teach the kids to
tally scores while playing Putt-Putt golf. There are several Putt-Putt golf
courses in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area, so you have a variety of themes
to pick from and a lot of them offer coupons also.

round of golf and a victory hug from one of the most photographed apes
in Gatlinburg.

Your kids will flip for this upside down adventure which is a mixture of math
and science. Find out how fast can your kids pitch a softball or a baseball.
Engage in scientific facts that will enlighten the mind to think about numbers
in a different way. There is definitely something here for everyone and this is
one of my daughters favorites and I love their art gallery!

With so many different hiking trails and the abundance of different wildflowers and wildlife in
the Smokies you can always involve math. Let the kids count how many different forms of
wildlife or wildflowers they see daily total and then divide at the end of the week to see their
averages, or give a special treat to the one who saw the most (total). Math is always more fun
when played as a game, so let the fun begin!
